Meals and Snacks

Nutritious menus are carefully planned to feed growing brains. 

Our cook at Riverbank provides freshly prepared meals and snacks daily. Emphasis is placed upon healthy eating with the use of fresh produce and lots of fruit and vegetables. We use the NHS Guidance Documents ‘Setting The Table’ and ‘Food Matters’ to meet the Scottish Government National Care Standards.  Our meals are suitable for all, no matter what stage they are at on their food journey.

A breakdown of all ingredients used in our dishes, as well as the rotational weekly menus, are displayed in our main hallway.  All meals are included within our fees. We provide children with a mid-morning snack, a two-course lunch as well as an afternoon snack/ Water is available in all rooms & outdoors throughout the day.  We also offer whole milk and water at snack and lunch times. Please inform us if your child follows a special diet e.g., is gluten free, has allergies etc

The coming together for snack and mealtimes plays an important part in the social life of nursery as well as reinforcing children’s understanding of the importance of healthy eating. The children eat together and are actively encouraged to use cutlery, serve themselves from serving dishes and help tidy, where able, and practice good table manners whilst taking part in lots of interesting chat!…

We brush teeth once a day at nursery and often have visits from dental health practitioners to strengthen the relationship with food and health and well-being.
